HOW TO SET UP A BLOG

A blog is an important part of the new Web 2.0. It is very popular today because it gives users a sense of ownership to a site when they can post their own comments directly to the web pages. The best beginner site to use is Blogger. You can get started with your own blog in just a few simple steps.

The first thing you need to know about a blog are the three components. These include the title, sidebar, and the post. The title is the title of your blog. The sidebar will run along side of the page of your blog. It may contain links or a way for people to subscribe to your blog. This will give people notifications when new postings have been added. The post is the actual page of the blog containing comments from you and the visitors to the blog. Postings can include text, audio, and even video files.

Creating a Blogger account is simple. You will go to the site and create an account or you can use your own Google account if you have one. If not, create an account by giving a valid and current email address and agree to the terms of service. You will also be required to choose a name that will be displayed as you on each blog posting. The next step you will be asked to name the blog and choose the URL address that you would like to use for your blog. You do have a choice if you own your own domain. If you do not own your own business website then Blogger will create a URL for you.

After you have a domain name for your blog you will be required to choose a template for your blog. The template is a design of the layout of your blog. You can change the template later if you do not like the way it looks. After you have chosen the template you can immediately begin posting to your blog. All you have to do is click on submit new blog. That's it!

There are many sites across the web which provide blog creation for an online business or for personal use. These sites include WordPress, Vox, Typepad, and Blogger. Blogger is the easiest for newbies. If you plan on moving your blog to a stand alone host eventually you might consider using WordPress.

Setting up a blog through any of the popular blog sites is really simple to do and it is free. You can have a blog up and running for your online business in less than 5 minutes. A blog allows you to create hype about a business, increase traffic, create inbound links, and so much more.
